What is polyester fabric?

Polyester is an important variety in synthetic fibers, the trade name of polyester fiber. A fiber-forming high polymer prepared from purified terephthalic acid (PTA) or dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) and ethylene glycol (EG) through esterification or transesterification and polycondensation reactions - Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), fibers made by spinning and subsequent treatment.

Advantages of polyester fabric:

1. Good chemical resistance, little damage by acid and alkali, and not afraid of mold and insects.

2. Synthetic fabrics have good heat resistance and thermoplasticity.

3. High strength and elastic recovery ability, strong and durable, anti-wrinkle and non-ironing.

4. Good light resistance, comparable to acrylic fabrics.

Disadvantages of polyester fabric:

1. Poor hygroscopicity. Polyester fabric has poor hygroscopicity, and it will feel stuffy when worn. It is easy to be charged with static electricity and stained with dust, but it is very easy to dry after washing. The wet strength hardly decreases, does not deform, and has good wearability.

2. Poor dyeability. There is no specific dyeing gene, dyeing is more difficult, and the dyeability is poor, but the color fastness after dyeing is very good, and it is not easy to fade.

3. Easy to pilling. One of the artificial synthetic fiber products, after a period of use, it will pill.

4. Poor melting resistance. The melting resistance is poor, and it is easy to form holes in case of sparks and soot, so avoid contact with cigarette butts and sparks when wearing.

Polyester fabrics are widely used in our daily life. The fabrics are stronger, more wear-resistant and durable, have a longer service life, and are not easy to wrinkle. They can be used to make clothes fabrics, and can also be used to manufacture some industrial products, such as Tents, woven bags and other products.
