Do you know about decorative fabric weaving?

The fabric is woven on a mechanical loom. Yarns are crisscrossed; depending on the fabric being made. These are called filler yarns. Vertical yarns are called warp or weft yarns, and horizontal yarns are called weft yarns. Varying the number of vertical and horizontal yarns produces different weave variations. When the density and size of the weave changes, so does the float pattern. The float is the part of the weft that goes over two or more wefts. Large floats are responsible for the smooth texture of the satin damask fabric.
One measure of the durability of upholstery fabrics is the tightness of the weave. Threads per inch measure this. An easy way to check the tightness of the fabric is to place the fabric in the light. The more light that gets through, the looser the weave.
The structural strength of the backing material (if any), the type of yarn used, the finishing method, and the color can all affect the durability of the fabric. Synthetic fibers are very strong and occasionally have a problem called pilling. It's just that the fibers twist into knots instead of fraying like natural fibers. Some tightly woven fabrics (eg: warp knitted fabrics) may be affected by pilling. Check how rough or smooth the texture is. This may give you clues as to whether the fabric will pill. Doing some research on you can save you money and questions.
Below you'll find most of the basic weaves that make up the various fabrics used on upholstered furniture today.
plain weave
This weave is constructed by passing the weft yarns alternately above and below the vertical yarns along the entire length of the fabric. Most cotton, chintz, and some olefins are woven from plain weave. A plain weave is constructed by alternating weft yarns above and below adjacent vertical yarns (warps) over the entire length of the fabric. It is very powerful and versatile in creating different fibers and blends. The plain weave is balanced. This means that the number of longitudinal and weft threads is approximately equal.
Rib weave
This weave is a variation of the plain weave. Use heavier yarn to achieve the desired effect. This is a variation of plain weave. It creates a ribbed effect. Rib knitting is achieved by using heavier filler yarns. If you use more filler yarns (filler yarns) than vertical yarns, you will get a ribbed appearance. This process is called caulking. This process knits a mix of corduroy and similar-looking fabrics.
